From paper to the digital realm with ‘NeMeA Sistemi’: the value of digitising municipal archives

Digitising them means making access to a vast amount of information – often scattered across files, attachments and technical records – quicker and more organised. With the NeMeA solution, each file is uploaded in its entirety to the local authority’s management system. But the process is not limited to scanning: the documents are catalogued, indexed and organised so that they can be accessed immediately. Permits, authorisations, amendments and attachments can thus be searched for in real time, significantly reducing search times and making day-to-day management smoother for municipal staff.
The value of georeferencing: archives that engage with the local area
One of the key elements of the project is the uploading of data to the GIS and the georeferencing of files. Each piece of documentation is linked to a specific location and made available within the GeoPortal-X, via an interactive map that allows for immediate and intuitive consultation of town planning projects. Added to this is a direct link to land registry data, with the integration of information from official sources such as the Italian Revenue Agency. In this way, the planning application process forms part of a broader, more comprehensive and coherent information system, capable of providing local authorities with a clear and up-to-date overview of the local area.

The results of these activities translate into tangible and measurable benefits. At an operational level, the time taken to search for and process files can be significantly reduced, with a direct impact on the efficiency of the offices.
